A maior atração de lá é o Parque Estadual de Ibitipoca, fundado em 1973, sendo sua área total de 1488 ha. e altitude média de 1.500 m. A infra-estrutura do parque possui portaria, lanchonete, anfiteatro, centro de visitantes. Entre outras atrações naturais; mirantes, grutas, piscinas naturais, cachoeiras e picos.
State Park of Ibitipoca
The State Park of Ibitipoca presents, in its 1488 ha, a wide variety of caves, waterfalls, lakes, peaks and green area. It is under the management of the State Institute of Forests and its area belongs to the municipality of Lima Duarte.
O Parque Estadual de Ibitipoca é parte do Circuito Serras de Ibitipoca que é composto pelos municípios de Bias Fortes, Ibertioga, Lima Duarte (distrito Conceição de Ibitipoca), Pedro Teixeira, Santa Rita de Ibitipoca e Santana do Garambéu. A única entrada para o parque está a aproximadamente 3 km do Arraial de Conceição do Ibitipoca, e 30 km de Lima Duarte, Minas Gerais. Em 3 ou 4 dias de caminhada é possível visitar todos os pontos turísticos do Parque.
The State Park of Ibitipoca is part of the Circuito Serras of Ibitipoca that is composed by the municipal districts of Bias Fortes, Ibertioga, Lima Duarte (district Conceição of Ibitipoca), Pedro Teixeira, Santa Rita of Ibitipoca and Santana of Garambéu. The only entrance for the park is the approximately 3 km of the Village of Conceição of Ibitipoca, and 30 km of Lima Duarte, Minas Gerais. In 3 or 4 days of walk it is possible to visit all of the tourist points of the Park.

Alguns estudiosos da língua tupi descrevem a tradução do nome Ibitipoca como “casa de pedra”, pela existência de muitas cavernas que serviam de moradia aos índios. Outros estudos indicam a versão da “serra que estala” (ibiti= serra + poca = estala), referência aos trovões que são comuns na serra.

Hoje, 300 anos depois, a vila é freqüentada por turistas de todo o mundo e a população não ultrapassa dois mil habitantes.

Esta é uma pequena ponte bastante rustica que dá acesso ao inicio das trilhas do parque e está logo assim que você sai da área de camping.

Lago dos Espelhos - Após passar pelo restaurante ALPHA-PARQUE e atravessar o rio, é só seguir por uma trilha de cerca de 500m até o lago. É de muito fácil acesso e possui bastante placas orientando o trajeto. A água é limpa, mas devido à profundidade, fica escura, e reflete a luz do sol.

Existem cerca de 40 grutas catalogadas em rochas de quartzito, onde está também uma das maiores grutas do Brasil nesse tipo de rocha, a Gruta das Bromélias que atualmente está fechada por medidas de preservação.
They exist about 40 grottos classified in quartzito rocks, where it is also one of the largest grottos of Brazil in that rock type, the Grotto of Bromélias that now is closed for preservation measures.
Durante a noite, o clima é de harmonia entre os moradores e turistas. Nos bares, lanchonetes e restaurantes é comum o som da viola acompanhado da tradicional prosa mineira, regada à pinga retirada dos alambiques da serra ou caldos com o melhor da culinária mineira.

As visitas ao parque podem ser feitas diariamente, das 7h/18h; campistas podem entrar até às 20h e tem que ligar com antecedência para marcar já que o Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca possui um número limite de visitantes. Durante os feriados as visitas devem ser marcadas com bastante antecedência, tendo em vista que a vila fica lotada de turistas.

O restaurante ALPHA-PARQUE está dentro do Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca a 1,3km após a portaria e possui um cardápio variado com refeições, lanches, salgados, bebidas, biscoitos e chocolates. O restaurante possui também um belo visual do parque.

Entre os animais encontrados dentro do parque estão as jaguatiricas, onças pardas, micos-estrela, macacos-prego, pererecas, sabiás, tucanos e beija-flores.Há também outras espécies que estão ameaçados de extinção como o lobo-guará, a siriema, o macaco mono-carvoeiro e o papagaio-do-peito-roxo.
Among the animals found inside of the park are the leopard cats, brown ounces, capuchin monkey-star, monkey-nail, pererecas, thrushes, toucans and hummingbirds.There are also other species that are threatened of extinction as the wolf-guará, the siriema, the monkey-coalman and the parrot-pity-chest-purple.
As principais cachoeiras, além da Janela do Céu, são: A cachoeira do Macaco, a cachoeira da Fada, a Cachoeirinha com poço para banho, e a Prainha. Há também vários picos com belas paisagens, que é o caso do Pico do Pião, Pico da Lombada que é o ponto mais alto do parque com 1784 metros de altitude, Pico do Gavião e o Pico da Vargem Grande.
The main waterfalls, besides the Janela do Céu, are: The waterfall of the Macaco, the waterfall of the Fada, Cachoeirinha with well for bath, and Prainha. There are also several picks with beautiful landscapes, that it is the case of the Pick of Pião, Pick of the Lombada that is the highest point of the park with 1784 meters of altitude, Pick of the Gavião and the Pick of Vargem Grande.
Nem todas as atrações são de fácil acesso. A cachoeira Janela do Céu, por exemplo, fica do lado oposto da portaria do parque, já as principais grutas (Gruta do Pião, Moreiras, Fugitivos, Três Arcos, dos Viajantes, do Monjolinho e a dos Coelhos) possuem fácil acesso.
Nor all of the attractions are of easy access. The waterfall Janela do Céu, for instance, is on the opposite side of the entrance of the park, already the main grottos (Grotto of Pião, Moreiras, Fugitivos, Três Arcos, of the Viajantes, of Monjolinho and the one of the Coelhos) they possess easy access.

A gruta das Bromélias entrou para o Livro dos Recordes por ser a segunda maior caverna de quartzito do mundo, com mais de três mil metros de galerias e túneis.
The Window of the Sky (Janela do Céu) is a river to proceed for a canyon and it finishes in a waterfall with 20 meters of height;

A Ponte de Pedra tem uma altura aproximada de 40 metros. Esta é uma das várias placas de indicação existentes no caminho para a Ponte de Pedra do Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca.
Ponte of Stone has an approximate height of 40 meters. This is one of the several existent indication plates in the road for Ponte of Stone of the State Park of Ibitipoca.
Ponte de Pedra - É um gigantesco túnel criado pela erosão causada pela água e que pode ser visitado passando por cima ou entrando dentro. O arco da ponte foi formado a milhares de anos atrás, quando a correnteza era muito grande e forte. Após a Ponte de Pedra, está o Lago das Miragens.
Ponte of Stone - It is a gigantic tunnel created by the erosion caused by the water and that it can be visited going over or entering inside. The arch of the bridge was formed to thousands of years ago, when the current was very big and strong. After Ponte of Stone, it is the Lake of the Mirages.
Por ser uma rocha bastante resistente, os quartzitos da Serra do Ibitipoca acabaram por ter um destaque na paisagem, assumindo uma forma de ferradura. Esta feição é responsável pelo mito de que Ibitipoca seria a boca de um vulcão extinto.
For being a quite resistant rock, the quartzitos of the Mountain of Ibitipoca they ended for having a prominence in the landscape, assuming a horseshoe form. This feature is responsible for the myth that Ibitipoca would be the mouth of an extinct volcano.
Para chegar até a Janela do Céu há uma trilha de 12km em região montanhosa dentro do parque. Apesar de ter algumas placas, se você não encontrar com ninguém no caminho pode ser um pouco complicado para chegar lá. Entre na trilha antes das 9:00 hs, com roupas leves, leve no mínimo 1 litro de água e lanche, leve lanterna, a caminhada é muito longa, por isso muitos aventureiros só retornam no outro dia.
To arrive until the Janela do Céu (Window of the Sky) there is a trail of 12km inside in mountainous area of the park. In spite of having some plates, if you don't find with anybody in the road it can be a little complicated to arrive there. Enter in the trail before the 9:00 hs, with light clothes, light in the minimum 1 liter of water and snack, light flashlight, the walk is very long, for that many adventurous they only return the other day.

O quartzito é a rocha responsável pela formação de todas as grutas do parque. As águas com tom avermelhado dá-se devido a um possível resultado da decomposição de matéria orgânica vegetal, faz com que se torne inevitável um banho de cachoeira, mas a vontade logo passa, porque a água é muito gelada, chega a dar quase hipotermia.
The quartzito is the responsible rock for the formation of all of the grottos of the park. The waters with red tone feel due to a possible result of the decomposition of vegetable organic matter, it does with that if it turns inevitable a waterfall bath, but the will soon passes, because the water is very cold, it gets to almost give hypothermia.
A cor da água, que vai do laranja ao vermelho, é resultado da decomposição da matéria orgânica vegetal, que também é responsável pela acidez do rio, deixando assim praticamente impossível a sobrevivência dos peixes. A ausência de peixes é também em decorrência de outros fatores como: cachoeiras, escassez de água na seca, excesso de água na temporada das chuvas, etc.
The color of the water, that is going from the orange to the red, it is resulted of the decomposition of the vegetable organic matter, that it is also responsible for the acidity of the river, leaving like this practically impossible the survival of the fish. The absence of fish is also due to other factors as: waterfalls, shortage of water in the drought, excess of water in the season of the rains, etc.
Prainha - A Prainha está bem próxima à área do camping e é formada pelo Rio do Salto, que corta todo o parque, . Sua água é muito gelada e transparente. Existe alguns poços mais profundos onde o usuário deve ter muito cuidado.
Prainha - Prainha is very close to the area of the camping and it is formed by Rio of the Jump, that it cuts the whole park. Its water is very cold and transparent. It exists some deeper wells where the user should be very careful.
Diversas nascentes brotam na Serra do Ibitipoca. Em uma das encostas, nascem os rios da Conceição, Bandeira e o córrego do Pilar, afluentes do Rio Doce. Em outras, vários córregos formam os rios do Salto e Vermelho, o primeiro pertencente à bacia do Paraíba do Sul e o último, à do Rio Grande.
Several East sprout in the Mountain of Ibitipoca. In one of the hillsides, they are born Conceição's rivers, Flag and Pilar's stream, flowing of Rio Doce. In other, several streams they form the rivers of the Jump and Red, the first belonging to the basin of Paraíba of the South and the last, to the one of Big Rio.

Ibitipoca está à 79km de Juiz de Fora. Não se esqueça de abastecer o veículo em Lima Duarte. De lá, segue-se por uma estrada de terra em condições não muito boas por um bom tempo até encontrar com duas subidas muito íngremes que até assusta ao ver pela primeira vez. Logo após a subida está a vila.

There are also several picks with beautiful landscapes, that it is the case of the Pick of Pião, Pick of the Lombada that is the highest point of the park with 1784 meters of altitude, Pick of the Gavião and the Pick of Vargem Grande.
Nem todas as atrações são de fácil acesso. A cachoeira Janela do Céu, por exemplo, fica do lado oposto da portaria do parque, já as principais grutas (Gruta do Pião, Moreiras, Fugitivos, Três Arcos, dos Viajantes, do Monjolinho e a dos Coelhos) possuem fácil acesso.
Nor all of the attractions are of easy access. The waterfall Janela do Céu, for instance, is on the opposite side of the entrance of the park, already the main grottos (Grotto of Pião, Moreiras, Fugitivos, Três Arcos, of the Viajantes, of Monjolinho and the one of the Coelhos) they possess easy access.

A Ponte de Pedra tem uma altura aproximada de 40 metros. Esta é uma das várias placas de indicação existentes no caminho para a Ponte de Pedra do Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca.
Ponte of Stone has an approximate height of 40 meters. This is one of the several existent indication plates in the road for Ponte of Stone of the State Park of Ibitipoca.
Ponte de Pedra - É um gigantesco túnel criado pela erosão causada pela água e que pode ser visitado passando por cima ou entrando dentro. O arco da ponte foi formado a milhares de anos atrás, quando a correnteza era muito grande e forte. Após a Ponte de Pedra, está o Lago das Miragens.
Ponte of Stone - It is a gigantic tunnel created by the erosion caused by the water and that it can be visited going over or entering inside. The arch of the bridge was formed to thousands of years ago, when the current was very big and strong. After Ponte of Stone, it is the Lake of the Mirages.
Por ser uma rocha bastante resistente, os quartzitos da Serra do Ibitipoca acabaram por ter um destaque na paisagem, assumindo uma forma de ferradura. Esta feição é responsável pelo mito de que Ibitipoca seria a boca de um vulcão extinto.
For being a quite resistant rock, the quartzitos of the Mountain of Ibitipoca they ended for having a prominence in the landscape, assuming a horseshoe form. This feature is responsible for the myth that Ibitipoca would be the mouth of an extinct volcano.
Para chegar até a Janela do Céu há uma trilha de 12km em região montanhosa dentro do parque. Apesar de ter algumas placas, se você não encontrar com ninguém no caminho pode ser um pouco complicado para chegar lá. Entre na trilha antes das 9:00 hs, com roupas leves, leve no mínimo 1 litro de água e lanche, leve lanterna, a caminhada é muito longa, por isso muitos aventureiros só retornam no outro dia.
To arrive until the Janela do Céu (Window of the Sky) there is a trail of 12km inside in mountainous area of the park. In spite of having some plates, if you don't find with anybody in the road it can be a little complicated to arrive there. Enter in the trail before the 9:00 hs, with light clothes, light in the minimum 1 liter of water and snack, light flashlight, the walk is very long, for that many adventurous they only return the other day.

O quartzito é a rocha responsável pela formação de todas as grutas do parque. As águas com tom avermelhado dá-se devido a um possível resultado da decomposição de matéria orgânica vegetal, faz com que se torne inevitável um banho de cachoeira, mas a vontade logo passa, porque a água é muito gelada, chega a dar quase hipotermia.
The quartzito is the responsible rock for the formation of all of the grottos of the park. The waters with red tone feel due to a possible result of the decomposition of vegetable organic matter, it does with that if it turns inevitable a waterfall bath, but the will soon passes, because the water is very cold, it gets to almost give hypothermia.
A cor da água, que vai do laranja ao vermelho, é resultado da decomposição da matéria orgânica vegetal, que também é responsável pela acidez do rio, deixando assim praticamente impossível a sobrevivência dos peixes. A ausência de peixes é também em decorrência de outros fatores como: cachoeiras, escassez de água na seca, excesso de água na temporada das chuvas, etc.
The color of the water, that is going from the orange to the red, it is resulted of the decomposition of the vegetable organic matter, that it is also responsible for the acidity of the river, leaving like this practically impossible the survival of the fish. The absence of fish is also due to other factors as: waterfalls, shortage of water in the drought, excess of water in the season of the rains, etc.
Prainha - A Prainha está bem próxima à área do camping e é formada pelo Rio do Salto, que corta todo o parque, . Sua água é muito gelada e transparente. Existe alguns poços mais profundos onde o usuário deve ter muito cuidado.
Prainha - Prainha is very close to the area of the camping and it is formed by Rio of the Jump, that it cuts the whole park. Its water is very cold and transparent. It exists some deeper wells where the user should be very careful.
Diversas nascentes brotam na Serra do Ibitipoca. Em uma das encostas, nascem os rios da Conceição, Bandeira e o córrego do Pilar, afluentes do Rio Doce. Em outras, vários córregos formam os rios do Salto e Vermelho, o primeiro pertencente à bacia do Paraíba do Sul e o último, à do Rio Grande.
Several East sprout in the Mountain of Ibitipoca. In one of the hillsides, they are born Conceição's rivers, Flag and Pilar's stream, flowing of Rio Doce. In other, several streams they form the rivers of the Jump and Red, the first belonging to the basin of Paraíba of the South and the last, to the one of Big Rio.

Ibitipoca está à 79km de Juiz de Fora. Não se esqueça de abastecer o veículo em Lima Duarte. De lá, segue-se por uma estrada de terra em condições não muito boas por um bom tempo até encontrar com duas subidas muito íngremes que até assusta ao ver pela primeira vez. Logo após a subida está a vila.
Ibitipoca is to the 79km of Juiz de Fora. Don't forget to supply the vehicle in Lima Duarte.
