Piúma: Os índios Puris eram os habitantes desta região. O padre José de Anchieta, ao chegar aqui em 1585, nomeou o lugar como Aldeia dos Índios Puris. Após isso, houve a chegada de colonizadores franceses, portugueses e ingleses. Em 4 de maio de 1883, a região foi transformada em Vila, com nome de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Piúma. Em 24 de dezembro de 1963 foi criado o município.

O monte é um local muito procurado para escaladas e vôos de asa delta.

Nesta praia há algumas barracas que servem bebidas e aperitivos na praia, mas elas não tem uma infra-estrutura muito boa para atender o turista.
